Staying with a host family is a great way to learn more about the UK and British culture. Homestays welcome you as a guest and are there to help you. All our homestays are English-speaking, so it's also a good opportunity to practise what you've learned in lessons!
Our homestays are carefully selected and frequently inspected by our Accommodation Management team, and a high proportion of them have been working with us for many years. All adults in each homestay are also regularly DBS-checked.
The majority of our homestay families are located in the north of Oxford, a 10-25 minute bus journey from the school and the city centre. Before you arrive, you will receive information about the family and how to travel to school, and your host family themselves will also help you with the bus journey on your first day.
Homestays provide breakfast and an evening meal every day. On weekdays lunches are provided by the school and can be collected from a nearby café each day.
Lunches at weekends are provided by the homestay. They will know if you have an excursion, but it's also important to make sure you remind your homestay and to ask for a packed lunch.
If you don't like pets, can't eat certain types of food or have any other special requests, don't worry – we will do our best to provide what you would like. However, you must let us know about this at the time of booking, and as early as possible. If you request a specific diet, there may be an extra charge to cover the additional cost to homestays.
Students should arrive at their homestay on their first day between 09:00 and 21:00. They should depart on their final day before 12:00 noon. Finally, we have a first-class Accommodation Management team who work hard to ensure students are placed in homestays where they will be happy and well-looked after. They are available every weekday in the School Office and have a 24-hour emergency contact number.
